I’ve had a turnip lurking in the fridge and fancied trying this for tea tonight..
As you can see this takes 2-3 hours, fortunately my assistant chef started this earlier in the day so that it was nearly ready when I came home! I did have the peas and bacon soaking overnight.
I made the full recipe and it does make loads! When I took the bacon out I gave it a blitz in my food processor and returned to the pan. We didn’t have any crispy rolls so had with a baguette instead!
Yet again my photos really don’t do this justice. This is one of the best soups I’ve made recently. It’s wonderfully and thick, just the way I like it! It’s not too salty from all that bacon, which I assume comes from all the soaking! My one comment is that I think it needs the full 3 hours, I served this after 2 and a half and there were a few peas still a bit hard, but overall this was just great.
Would I make this again? Yes, loved it
