Iced Banana Shake

I have to admit I’m not a massive fan of milk shakes but today I thought I’d try this..

This is from the tea, coffee and other drinks chapter. I think I’ve been neglecting this chapter and the cocktail chapter, so I’m going to try a few more of these or otherwise when I getting to the end of finishing this book I’ll have all the drinks left!

I found the wee blurb at the start if this chapter amusing when it talks about flips and nogs! I’ve heard of egg nog but that’s it. I really don’t like the sound of egg nog, it’s maybe just the thought of the whole egg in a drink. I will have to try it at some point.

So for this I just used vanilla ice cream and was making in my blender..

After blending for one minute it had increased in volume quite considerably..

So that’s all there is to it! I poured it into cocktail glasses..

image

It is really frothy but weirdly it started to separate quite quickly

image

It actually tastes way better than I expected and is quite refreshing but the liquid has all sunk to the bottom, so we just drank that through the froth! I think we needed some straws to stir while drinking! It’s not as heavy as I remember milk shakes being and I did actually enjoy it more than I expected.

Would I make this again? Possibly!

Still Lemonade

I had this one lonely lemon in the fridge and fancied trying a drink. The quick lemon squash is not very exciting so opted to try the still lemonade

image

Believe it or not but we don’t have a potato peeler in the house! I think I broke the last one and just haven’t replaced it. So I was using a knife to peel the lemon which was strangely difficult!! I don’t think I peeled it particularly thin, but decided that didn’t matter to much as it’s all being strained anyway..

image

I was a only using one lemon so thirded the sugar and water. It does seem like a lot of sugar but then most lemonades do have a ton of sugar in them!

image

When the boiling water is added it smells to me like lemsip!! So not particularly appealing!

After about an hour it had cooled so I strained and then left in fridge for a while.

I know this isn’t a very exciting recipe but still determined to try everything from the book! So when I actually tried this I was really surprised how nice it is! It’s really refreshing and yes it’s sweet but not overly sweet!

So am thinking I need to get myself some ice and gin and I have myself a nice Saturday night cocktail!!

Would I make this again? Yes I would!

Orangeade

When I think of orangeade I imagine a fizzy orangina style drink!

image

image

The reason I chose to make this today is because I had half a lemon and an orange in the fridge to use up!! So I halved this and ended up with one large glass.

Not really much to say about the making of this apart from it looked nice and did smell good!

image

I did assume that it was to be strained or sieved before drinking, which does result in a very nice looking liquid!

This is actually very refreshing. It has just the perfect amount of sweetness and it tastes great. We all just shared this as it is but I do think it would make a great mixer with some vodka and ice!!

Would I make this again? Yes, really easy and was surprised how nice it was!
